Be and Do Better

Last week, I took a pause on self- and business-focused promotions on social media so that more voices could be heard regarding #blacklivesmatter, the senseless killing of George Floyd, and the efforts to continue to raise awareness about the social injustices and police brutality that have long been experienced by people of color.

My “social muting” was a teeny-tiny-microscopic action.

I’m a private person and don’t share much of my viewpoints publicly on worldly and national affairs. I don’t participate in political or religious debates. I have never been one to speak out and use my channels for much beyond my professional work. Even in the work context, I’ve never been one to engage in debates. I’m sure there is a proper term for it, but I just never learned the art or developed the confidence to engage out loud.

But I can see that “not speaking out” can be viewed on the same level as “not helping” by some.

So I just wanted to take this opportunity to say that I recognize numerous layers of inequalities, even in the field of work I belong. I’m sensitive to it, my eyeballs are open even wider now, and I will seek ways to make change and an impact.

“To do what I can do.” And to continue listening, learning, collaborating, donating to groups in which I believe, and to VOTE and to SUPPORT change with every possible choice and action I have.

Peace to all,

Dina
