7 Unique Ways to Detox & Cleanse for 2023

In Part 1, I touched on why we are commonly lured into the “I should detox-cleanse” mentality, especially at the start of a new calendar year. In this post, I provide you 7 unique ways to proceed with a detox-cleanse that are different from traditional methods:

  1. Dismiss the “all-or-nothing” mindset for approaching a change in your fitness and nutrition regimen. This mindset sets us up for failure. Instead, get better at consistency and showing up for yourself.

  2. Stop comparing yourself to others. No one wins at the comparison gam. It does nothing for supporting your own worth and value. Be you and shine your light the way you want.

  3. Get rid of clothes that don’t fit you any longer. Donate them or do a clothing swap with friends. Clothes that don’t fit don’t serve you and they perpetuate dieting, restriction, and the belief that your body is valuable only when it is a certain size.

  4. Remove morality talk around food and your food choices. Food has no morality and you are not good or bad for choosing broccoli over ice cream, or chocolate instead of cake. Watch your language (especially around kids!) and remember you are not less or more of a person by choosing one food or another.

  5. Stop living in the past. You have a choice right now to live fully. Stop dwelling on what you did when you were 20, what you looked like when you “raced your best”, or blah-blah from the past. You are short cutting your potential to live fully right now.

  6. Unfollow and minimize your time around ‘toxic’ people in your feeds, forums, and environment. Disassociate from those who trigger anxiety and negative thoughts about yourself. Ain’t got no time for that… and anyway, you deserve better.

  7. Break up with self-limiting beliefs like “I’m too old”. Let go of the thoughts that are stopping you from doing the things you want to do and being the person you want to be in this short blip of a life we have.

How do these land for you? In what ways are you doing a (non-diet) detox to make your year better? Drop me a message or leave a comment.
