Kristin's Blog Takeover

Dear Readers,
I’ve gotta be honest with you. This isn’t a blog. It’s a brag about my friend and colleague Dina Griffin, the OG Nutrition Mechanic. And she’s just gonna have to hit “PUBLISH” on this one because it’s all about her (and shhh, don’t tell anybody, but she’s kinda shy).

Enjoy,
Kristin Foreman, MS, RDN

It takes courage to start your own business. And bravery. Some confidence. Throw in a little fear, and voilà, the recipe for starting something new.

Dina and I first met in 2007. We were both earning stripes as clinical dietitians in our local hospital. It was a great experience and we sure learned a lot.

We each took different paths from our clinical days into the world of sports nutrition, but we kept in touch over the years. I always had such respect and admiration for the work and learning Dina was doing. It was top-notch.

Fast forward to the spring of 2020. I was a decade into full-time Motherhood and part-time dietitian-ing, and I was ready for something more. I called Dina and one conversation led to another. As they do. Then things got really weird really quickly (with the world, not Dina), and Covid-19 shut everything down almost overnight.

The Nutrition Mechanic continued to thrive, I went on to survive homeschooling (barely) and the summer of 2020 (thank goodness for camping, bikes, and a horse), then welcomed (OHHHH, how I welcomed) back-to-school in the fall. Dina and I picked up our conversation where we left off and just like that, we decided we wanted to work together again.

Here we are, five months in, and I’m still SMH (shaking my head). To say that it’s been amazing would be an understatement. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with this amazing woman, who cares deeply about the work she puts into the world and the impact she has on others. Dina is one of the most talented and knowledgeable Sports Dietitians I’ve ever met, and every day I pinch myself that I get to work with her.

Three years ago tomorrow, May 1st, 2018, Dina Griffin, Sports Dietitian Extraordinaire, made the courageous, brave, confident, and perhaps slightly scary decision to start The Nutrition Mechanic. I think we can all agree that it was a great decision!

I’m sure that many of you reading this right now already know how amazing Dina is, because you’ve worked with her or listened to her podcasts or been in one of her groups. Amirite?! She’s amazeballs!!!

Would you all please join me in giving Dina a great big shout out of CONGRATULATIONS on the three year anniversary of opening The Nutrition Mechanic!!!

Here’s to your continued success my friend!
