Biohacking or Back to Basics

In this era of All The People trying to sell you biohacking potions-powders-diets-gadgets-gizmos-quickfixes (even in COVID-19 days), may I propose that now is a good time to revisit some fundamentals.

So I probably just lost half the readers ‘cuz fundamentals are borrrriiiinngggg and not sexy one bit.

YEP. Even in our COVID-19 days, a lot of us are missing out on those foundational basics or are neglecting them… (or maybe never had them nailed to begin with?)

It could be due to one or more combinations of feeling hopeless, anxious, lonely, stress, and so on. Our support systems, human connection, and perceived freedom levels have certainly been impacted. Of course, if you and/or loved ones have been ill or were ill prior to this time frame, it is especially difficult.

But the truth is a lot of folks, WHO ARE ABLE, don’t want to work on the fundamentals. Without further boring you with evidence and anecdotes, I will just say that attention to the Basics can rock your world when you decide you’re ready to honor yourself and existence on this planet. (<—bold statement brought to you by a strong cup of coffee)

Here’s my current summary of the Back to Basics list (in no particular order), which I’d love for you to think about as your own “Systems Check”:

  • Restorative Sleep

  • Movement / Exercise

  • Quality Nutrition

  • Giggle Time

  • Sunlight / Outdoor Time

  • Digital/Electronic Device Dieting

  • Human / Social Connection

  • Meditation / Prayer

  • A Daily Routine that supports all of these

Of course, the daily nutrition piece is one that I could expound on more here, but I’ll save that for another write up. For now, I am merely encouraging you to take a breath, put the biohacks on hold, pick your own low hanging fruit from the Systems Check list (ask: where do I most need help? or where am I most suffering that feels easiest to deal with right now?), then get your adult pants on and DO.

If you have no idea, you feel clueless, or need some guidance, e-ping me and let’s get it going.

You can do it.

Thanks for reading.
